Welcome to our website
HuGG
is a friendly social group for gay and bisexual men, aged 18+, which meets
at 8pm, every Tuesday close to Huddersfield town centre in a discrete
location with parking.
Coffee,
tea or soft drinks are available from 20p. This is a chance to meet new
people, have a chat, catch up on the weeks gossip or find out what the
other guys have been up to since we saw them last. We also have general
information, gay press/magazines and health related leaflets to read or
take home.
About
8:30, we begin an 'activity'. This may be a team game, quiz, presentation
or guest speaker (see the 'current diary' page for information). We now
have a laptop and can 'borrow' a projector which enables us to use interactive
DVD games/quizzes and project them onto a screen. None of our games or
quizzes is to be taken too seriously! Activities
usually last about 45 minutes to an hour and the meeting will end around
9:30 when we finish off the evening with a drink in a local pub.
Your
first visit is free and we charge 50p for subsequent meetings. The money
is saved and used to subsidise events and activities of the group. In
addition to the Tuesday meetings we also meet regulalry for 10 Pin Bowling,
Dining Out, trips to Canal Street and local 'scene', Theatre visits, Nights
Out, and Weekends Away.
Many
men are nervous about the thought of entering a room full of strangers,
particulalry if they are venturing out for the first time as gay or bi
curious men. New group members have told us how nervous they were, and
that they walked passed the door a few times before they found the courage
to come in! Don't worry, a couple of us can arrange to meet you early
on your first visit, just so you can feel more relaxed before the
others arrive. All we can say is, give us a go ... it is a very friendly
group and new members are always made to feel welcome.
